Don’t get caught out by copyright! It’s never too early to think about copyright matters relating to your thesis. In this workshop you’ll learn about what copyright is, how long it lasts, and the kinds of materials it protects. You will learn how to use copyright material compliantly in your thesis, and the steps to take when permission is required. We will also talk about the rights that copyright legislation gives you, measures you can take to protect your original work, and requirements for final thesis submission.
By the end of the workshop you will:
- Understand your rights as an author and copyright owner of your thesis and how to protect and manage those rights.
- Know how to manage copyright when including third party copyright material created by other people in your thesis.
- Understand how to manage copyright when making your thesis available on open access.
